A Tale of Two Showers

For the now Mrs. Denny, we gave two bridal showers. The first one was meant to be a suprise and it was, up until the evening before when my grandfather (Chick) accidently spilled the beans. oops! That's ok. I think she still enjoyed it.
Walking in to her "suprise" bridal shower.
Miss Rena was getting a kick out of something! The pictures makes me smile!
I love her expression! I can't even put a caption to it.
Lori, Ali and Kayla.

One of the games we did involved drawing a wedding dress while the paper was on your head. Some of the pictures were hilarious!

Hannah, Tash, Shay, Emily and I worked on this cake for awhile. Our poor cake decorator was extremely sick, so we took the job upon ourselves and the girls did excellent work!

Tasha carried out the old tradition of making a hat for the Bride-to-be out of the ribbons and bows from each present. She got very creative!

As is tradition for every event our family holds at the fish and game, we decorated the moose according to our party theme. Doesn't she look lovely?
And here is her dashing groom, compelete with a bow tie that Em made!
Doesn't she look loverly? Tash needs to go into the hat making buisness!
These next pictures are from the personal shower we gave Kayla. Some of the ladies from church came and we played some little games and ate lots of junky, not-good-for-the-bride-and-bridesmaids'-figures kinds of food.

The game that was the favorite was making a bridal gown with only scotch tape and toilet paper and they had about 20 minutes to do it in.
The results......stunningly beautiful! Move over Vogue fashion!

Kayla received some very nice and very personal gifts from these very gracious and giving and generous ladies! What a blessing.

We laughed so hard at this game. You had to move all of the cotton balls from one bowl to the other while blind-folded. Sounds easy, doesn't it? Actually it is incredibly challenging, because cotton balls hardly weigh a thing, so often times you'd just be move air from one bowl to another!!!

We had lots of laughs and I beleive Kayla was very blessed by these godly women and young ladies!

Up To Camp

Last year, my uncle Rob bought this beautiful camp on Sebec Lake. It's on it's own little peninsula with a beautiful view of tree covered hills and the vast blue sky on a clear summer day! Needless to say, we enjoy our visits there during the summer.
There's plenty to keep us busy. Four-wheeling, for instance. I prefer to let others drive while I ride.
Tubing is one of our favorite Sebec Lake adventures. Here's my cousin Kristy, who is a tubing pro!
Ethan found a little friend! She was floating away from the shore and cried, "help! Bring me back!" And he went and rescued this damsel in distress!!
Michelle, a family friend, tried and tried to get her standard poodle, Champagne, into the water, but she just wouldn't go. Finally we coaxed her into the Kayak- as you can see she's quite enjoying herself- she even put on a pair of sunglasses for the ride!
There's my "little" cousin Renee (she's going to be a freshman in High School this year!!) sporting her oh, so cool sunglasses. My uncle calls her "Hollywoooooood" when she wears them.

Here's Josiah, ready for a nice, relaxing ride. Little did he know how my uncle despises Yankee fans....
............and therefore, gave him a run for his money, resulting in........
.... an entertaining flip!!

Here's Kayla, the unexpecting, Yankee fan #2. She was a little more prepared than her fiance.

She held on for dear life as Uncle Rob took her for a wild ride.
But alas, she didn't hold on long enough and joined 'Siah as the only two people to get flipped that day, much to our amusement!!!
Here's a view of the camp. Doesn't it look so quaint, peaceful and perfect for a retreat!
Mom got back on the skis after 5 or 6 years of dormancy in that area. She did great!

These two pictures are the views from the front porch. Isn't it gorgeous?

I like this picture of me and Renee. I so enjoy spending time with my cousins- they are extra special!

This is how we all feel after a busy day in the sun at Stumble Inn (the name of the camp)! I hope you felt a little rested and refreshed looking at these pictures!

4th of July Fun

This year, to celebrate Independence Day, we had our dear friends, the Fletchers, over for pizza, ice cream and a kick-ballish sort of game.

We topped it off with a visit to Hadlock Field and a very exciting baseball game, complete with all the necessities....

... like two little boys mimicking the players...

.... goofy faced pictures...

... watermelon wars....
...fireworks after the game...

... and the biggest survival item: SEADOG BISCUITS!!

Photos galore

Due to all of the photos that I've taken over the summer and the fact that I am way too far behind on things to chronicle all of my summer adventures, I've decided that I'm going to do most of them in the form of photo journals. Some I will explain, but for the most part, I'll do photos. So, I hope you enjoy all of the pictures!

To Snatch A Suitor

Listen up ladies far and wide in search of a man! Have I got great news for you! If you have been waiting and waiting for Mr. Right to come along, but alas, he has not or worse yet, he has ridden off into the sunset with another fair maiden, I have the answer! Man-Catcher Brownies*. That's right!

Don't believe they work? Skeptical? Well, allow me to prove to you their effectiveness.
Observe exhibit A. Fair Maiden Jane offers the bait to possible prince charming Jack. The temptation is too great for Jack. He takes the bait......
...he consumes it.....
....hook, line and sinker! Hoorah, Hoorah! He can no longer resist her chocolate charms. He drops to one knee and the date is set for August 9, 2008.

Ok. Who's next? Take your pick, bake a brownie and then enjoy the results!

* If anyone wants this recipe, let me know- they really are yummy! I got the recipe from my friend Bonnie's blog, www.generalismo.com

** In case you didn't realize, this is meant to be satirical. In no way do I ensure matrimonial bliss for those who bake and attempt to lure with these delicious morsels. Please do not sue or send hate mail if it does not work for you!

Happy Birthday Ethan!

I love you little man! Happy 5th Birthday! I can hardly believe it's been that long since you were born, but it has been such a blessing being your big sister!
